Early morning fatal stabbing in Surrey – Victim identified

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is requesting public assistance to further its ongoing investigation into the stabbing death of a 45-year-old Surrey man.
Surrey: On August 16, 2019 at approximately 3:23 a.m., the Surrey RCMP received calls about a man found bleeding in the 1700-block of 152 Street. Frontline officers arrived on scene to find 45-year-old Delphin Paul Prestbakmo unresponsive with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at scene. The Integrated Police Dog Services conducted a track to a nearby residence where one male was taken into custody. IHIT was called in to take conduct of the investigation.
IHIT is currently working closely with its partners from the Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence.
It is still early in the investigation and investigators are working to determine motive.
We are releasing the name of our murdered victim in an effort to determine his activities prior to his death. We need Delphin Prestbakmo’s closest friends and associates to come forward, says Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT.
We also urge any witnesses who were in the area of the 1700-block of 152 Street to contact us.
