Surrey: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is requesting public assistance to further its investigation into the shooting death of a 29-year-old Surrey resident.

On September 28, 2019 at around 6 p.m., a man was shot and killed while seated inside his vehicle at a gas station in the 18600-block of Fraser Highway in Surrey, B.C. IHIT took conduct of the investigation and continues to complete priority tasks and gather evidence. Investigators have spoken with numerous witnesses and reviewed considerable video surveillance footage from the area of the incident.

From the information gathered so far, investigators have determined that a black male ran away from the shooting site and got into a silver sedan driven by a second black male.

At around 10 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP received a report of a burnt silver sedan in the area of Willingdon Avenue and Kemp Street and is believed to be associated to the earlier shooting.

Investigators are seeking witnesses that may have made observations and/or have dash cam video from the following two areas:

Investigators are still making efforts to notify some of the victim’s immediate family members of his death and so his identity will not be released at this time. The victim was known to police and the shooting is believed to be a targeted incident.

There is a great deal of momentum at this early stage in the investigation, says Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT. Our investigators and partners are diligently collecting the evidence and a phone call from the right witness could be the difference maker in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
